Jesus the Savior - Venice, Italy

This image shows a statue atop the copper dome of the Church of San Simeon Piccolo (officially San Simeone e Giuda) in Venice.

The statue depicts Jesus the Savior (Salvatore). The figure holds a long staff in his left hand, topped with a cross, and a waving flag below. A halo (nimbus) is visible above his head, and his right hand is raised in blessing.

The statue is located at the very top of the church's distinctive greenish copper dome.

The church itself is located in the Santa Croce district of Venice, directly on the banks of the Grand Canal, opposite the Santa Lucia train station.
